1.5 - Busking

Nicole's busking idea was good in theory. Not so much in reality. You see that Legacy Island apparently didn't get so much out, so often she found herself playing alone for hours.

When she decided to busk for a while before meeting with Rob for coffee, she didn't earn a dime. And it wasn't her lucky day for her mental state either, because when she went out of the park, to go on her date, she ran into, no other than Daniel, with a stroller.

This was the first she'd seen of Daniel where he was in context with his family. They'd never talked and she'd gotten the information about his family from others. So his cheeks went just as red as his hair, when he saw her. He just waved awkwardly and hurried down the street with little Wilfred in the stroller. She knew the name from Darleen, who had let it slip during one of their conversations.
She shook her head, and felt a lump in her throat. But she had a date to go to, so she caught a cab.
Rob was just as perfect in reality as he had been the night before. They chatted and laughed, and she found that she was enjoying herself. On top of that was he blindingly stunning in  her opinion and he actually exclaimed at one point; "I don't care what everyone else says, I think you're hot!"
So when he left for work and she went to the mall, she felt like this was going to be a good thing. She smiled, while she bought herself some new stuff and went out to the pool in hope that she could busk for some cash.
But the shopkeeper from the café in the mall shooed her away. This apparently wasn't a place for her to try her new profession. So as an apology, she went in and bought a plate of hotwings.
When she sat down and ate, she examined her money. This was about to get critical, so she should really start earning some money soon. But she didn't feel like interviewing for a 9am-5pm job, so she was determined that the busking idea should work - one way or another.
As she sat, eating her food and wondering how she should manage, the other guest who had been sitting with her computer for a while, took her phone and called someone. Nicole was about to choke on her food when she heard the conversation.
"Hey Daniel? This is Mary-Sue. Hey! Ehm, I'll be a little late from work today, would you mind picking up Wilfred from the daycare? Really! Thank you so much, Love! I'll see you for dinner! Bye"
Nicole looked up and saw the Perfectly Pleasant wife sitting at the next table. She decided to eat fast and get the hell out of there.
So she went to the train station to busk for a while.
While she stood there, she wondered; Why would Mary-Sue tell Daniel she was late from work, when she was obviously on her computer at the mall? Were there more to this story, than she was told by the Dreamers? When she didn't earn anything and the rain started pouring, she quit the job for the day, and decided to get home. She thought too much to be able to concentrate anyways.
When she got home she got a telephone call from Rob, telling her he had had a nice time, and would love to see her again. "So would I", she answered, and after a few minutes, his break was up, so he hung up and went back to work.

She hardly put down the phone, before she got another call. Don Lorathio called her to invite her to a party. He'd heard so much of her, and she was the only one showing up for his Simfest performance, so he would like to get to know her better. And confused as she was, she forgot to say no, to a swimsuit party at his house.

Yes... She is stupid... And yes... This is a mess. And yes, I'm having SO much fun writing it!

1.4 - Festival

The next couple of days, Nicole didn't answer her phone everytime Daniel rang. After her drunken writing with him, she tried her very best not to let him on. She buried herself in her music instead and when she felt too lonely she called up Brandi and chatted for a while.

One day Brandi came over to get her out of the house.
"You've been here too long, you need to get out! Let's go to the Summer Festival at Legacy Park!" It may sound like a suggestion, but Nicole quickly discovered that it wasn't. It was an order.
So Brandi put her in a cap and together they headed for the festival

She decided to let loose and enjoy herself - anything else was hard when Brandi was around. At one point she even looked at the hotdog eating contest stand and looked competative at Brandi:
"Bet i can eat more hot dogs than you!" Nicole laughed. Brandi raised one eyebrow, as if she was doubting it, before answering: "You can try!"

They entered the contest with some random chick, and true to Nicoles words, she could!  Brandi ended up running off to hurl behind a bush. Nicole didn't win over the other chick, but it didn't matter. She won the right to taunt Brandi for a while.

They had a nice time, playing their instruments together. Laughing and talking - before taking a greeting card photo together to remind them of the day. Nicole promised herself she would get it framed first thing in the morning.

Brandi got a call from Skip, her husband, that Beau, their toddler, had gotten a fever, so she said goodbye and hurried home. Nicole understood - she would have done the same in Brandi's case.

So Nicole went home aswell and checked the online profile she created.

She'd agreed with herself, she could just aswell try to see whether there were anyone nice and honest on that site. She found herself chatting with a guy called Rob for a long time. They hit it off, and the messages kept flying. At one point he suggested for her to give him her number, so he could call her instead - and she found herself doing it.

They agreed to meet for a date the next day - to see whether they would hit it off in reality aswell.
When he suggested he could pick her up, she started to look around in her little shack, and decided it would be best they met up instead. So they decided to meet at 1pm at the Center Drip Coffee Shop for coffee.

After hanging up, Nicole found herself looking at her bare walls, deciding that she would start busking for money, so she could get some decent furniture. She yawned and went to bed.

1.3 - Error.

When Nicole wakes up the next day, she doesn't remember much. She just groans and sits up in her bed, putting her hand to her head. Moaning she gets out of bed and takes a shower - and then she realises... Her computer is on. So she sits down, looks at her newly made online dating profile and clasps her hands over her mouth...
What was she thinking when she got home? Hasn't her mom told her all the scary stories about girls meeting guys online and realise, he might not be as nice in reality?
But even though her profile has only been there overnight, she already has three messages. Two strangers, and one reply - to one she sent.
The strangers is someone called Richie, who wants to hear more about her name, inbetween making out - and some guy named Josh who wants to become friends
And then there is the reply - from Daniel.

"Haha! I can't believe we're chatting in here. See you soon? Daniel"

She panics and clicks around until she finds what she wrote him:

"Hey Daniel. Funny to find you here? Nicole"

She moans... No, no, no! What was she thinking? But again - What was HE thinking? He's married! He's soon to be a father to a newborn - if he isn't so already. She shouldn't be writing him on a DATING SITE! If she should do anything, she should be making sure that they just stay friends. But nooo. Drunken Nicole betrayed her - yet again. Dammit.

She lies around for a while, damning every move she made last night, until she reads the newspaper. A SimFest is going on at Legacy Park. She hasn't ever been to a SimFest since her parents usually thought it was a waste of time. But since her love for music is quite strong, she decides to go.
There is only one participant, so he gets to stay on stage for a while. Some bloke named Don - and as the only audience is the proprietor and Nicole. But she finds that she is enjoying the music.
If only she had the gut to go on stage like that - but she'd never.

But the temptation is too strong, so when the SimFest ends and Don is declared the official winner (and only participant), Nicole goes aside to jam a little on her own guitar.

And before she knows it, the sun goes down, and she realises that she is joined by a fellow lover of music.

Her name is Brandi Broke, whom Nicole makes quick friends with. Especially after discovering that Brandi is a virtuoso aswell.

Nicole promises herself that she will invite Brandi over for some jamming later. It would be nice to have someone to share her passion with.

1.2 - Adult lessons

Nicole flew around on a little bubble of happiness for the next couple of days. Who would know that it would be so easy to find someone nice in this town.

She spend a lot of time next door, really getting to know Darleen and Darren. She found Darleen to be friendly and with a nice sense of humor - a little emptyheaded though. It was not particulary hard to get to know what there was to know about her. She is simple, enjoys her life with Darren, has a good job and a kid.
Coming from Sunset Valley where everybody has a juicy secret, Nicole tried to get some gossip about the inhabitants of Legacy Island. Even though she used to be the subject of this, and felt horrible about that, she still felt like she had to know who everybody was. The most juicy thing Darleen could think of was that Bella Goth divorced Mortimer Goth a couple of months ago. Darleen is not the gossiping type.
She ends up staying for dinner where Darren gets home. Dirk, their teen son, whom Nicole has yet to meet, were nowhere to be seen - but the parents ensured her that that was normal for him - and as long he is home for curfew, he's allowed to go where he wants.
After dinner, Nicole did chat with Darren while Darlene went upstairs to work a little.
And here she got the kind of gossip she was looking for, but not wanted to know.
Darren looked at her in disbelief when he realises that she doesn't know that Daniel, the pleasant guy, actually has a Pleasant wife, and two perfectly Pleasant teen-girls (or almost perfectly pleasant...) - and the worst part. A new little Pleasant baby on the way.
She excused herself shortly after that. As stupid as she always has been - she actually had started to hope to be able to date this guy at some point - but apparently Daniel Pleasant, was apparently not only pleasant, but married, a father - and looking to be unfaithful to his pregnant wife, from the amount of flirting with her the evening before.

So when he called her - she acted. She smalltalked, she laughed... But she cut the conversation short - because she didn't want to let let him on. She wasn't about to be pleasant to him
Instead - She went out.
She ended up drinking something they called a Broken Cheerleader - and poured out her heart to the mixiologist about what she knew - and looking from his face - he either knew or didn't care.

But nothing happened. Since she didn't know the city, she obvioulsy didn't know where to go - and the bar was empty. So she went home. And created a online dating profile.

1.1 - New life

Nicole Douglass is your typical good girl next door. She always did well in school. Her parents were oh-so-proud, but she never found her place, due to her looks. She's not your typical slender, popular girl - She's Nicole.

Nicole was always pressured by her father to take up his Douglass-legacy. He wanted for his little genius to become a doctor, like him, and his father before him. Nicole's little sister wasn't interested in the "legacy" so she ran away as a teen, with a much older upcoming film artist. No one has seen her for years.
Therefore it was Nicoles duty to take up the legacy, but finally the good little girl put her foot down. She said no.
So Nicole decided to take off from Sunset Valley and take place on a little island, called Legacy Island. A curious choice for a girl who didn't want anything to do with her fathers legacy, but Nicole looked at it as a sign, that she was to start her very own legacy.
On this little island she wasn't the Douglass-daughter, but instead she was the nobody. The newcomer - and she didn't mind that, at all.

A little house was bought on 45 Elm Street, where she put the few things she owned, which wasn't a lot, so she bought a few things at the local consignment store.
And with those few purchases - a home was founded.

Her favourite purchase was the used guitar, which she found cheap. She always had a tingeling in her fingers whenever someone found the guitar and played. She wanted to learn to play so badly.

So the first day, to get some fresh air, she took the guitar and went to the park. Nicole thought that would make a perfect practicing place.

It only took her a few minutes to get so absorbed in her playing that she didn't notice that people actually stopped and listened for a while, before walking on.
She just kept on playing... and playing. And enjoying.

She lost track of time, and when she started to feel drops of rain falling on her face, she decided that she needed to get home before the rain got heavy. But since the cab was delayed due to the wet asphalt, she was soaked before she got home. But in her mailbox she found a handwritten note from her new neighbours, The Dreamers, that invited her to stop by when she came home, because they would love to meet her.

So she stopped by. Darren and Darlene was perfectly nice - and incredibly curious to where she was from. And why she had chosen Legacy Island. And what she was planning on doing.
But at the Dreamers she also met Daniel.

Daniel Pleasant was everything his name promised. He was pleasant, charismatic and genuinely interested in her life. They talked for a while, about her new home, her old town and his job. She noticed that Darren and Darlene started looking at the watch, so they took off to their respective homes - but she remembered him and her first day on Legacy Island, with happiness.
